Here is a list of documentaries that I found extremely helpful in my quest to learn more about Whole Food Plant Based eating. I would highly suggest watching them. I believe most of them can be found on Netflix or on You Tube.
The Game Changers – by award winning producer James Cameron (The Titanic) This documentary aims to dispel the myth that you need to eat meat to be an athlete! It follows female and man elite athletes, including the world’s strongest and fastest men who are vegan. I had the pleasure to watch the entire documentary in February 2018 on a Whole Food Plant Based Cruise before it was released. It is now available on Netflix! It’s a must see.
What the Health – trailer I have watched this 4 times! Alone, with my husband, with my husband and kids then one more time with my mom. I also incented my niece and nephews to watch as they are at such a critical stage in their life to learn this information and make informed decisions about what they consume. You can lead a horse to water, but sometimes a little “carrot” can make it drink. 🙂
Forks Over Knives – trailer This documentary was introduced to my husband and I by a friend who suffered a heart attack a few years ago. It is a fabulous information source on how we are personally responsible for our health. Change your diet, change your life.
Eating you Alive – trailer This documentary explores the link between American dietary habits — like eating meat, dairy, and eggs — and the rise of chronic disease. It has earned a lot of praise in the U.S, including from “The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik, who explained that the film doesn’t use “scare tactics or weird anecdotes.” She added, “It focuses on the medical impact of the way Americans are told it’s healthy to eat… If you watch one documentary about health, this should be it.”
Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead – trailer
Hungry for a Change – trailer
Food Matters – trailer
Fed Up – trailer
Meat the Facts – 3 minute video
There are numerous other amazing documentaries out there. Many I can’t bring myself to watch because of the portrayal of the cruelty to animals. There are numerous documentaries such as the recent “What the Health” that really bring to light the number of health issues we face as a society and the importance of getting back to our roots by eating food that comes from the earth to promote health. With all of the facts about what our diet is doing to our health and the planet, it is difficult to deny the need for a change to a more sustainable way of living.
Here is a link to 41 leading vegan documentaries. It would be difficult to watch them all and ever eat another animal product again.
